We will explore text characteristics, student background knowledge, and teacher expectations as important considerations when judging whether a text is complex. We will also examine instructional strategies and routines that teachers can implement to scaffold effective student comprehension of meaningful and complex texts. School leaders, literacy specialists, and classroom teachers play important roles in promoting student achievement and will benefit from the research and practice addressed in this webinar.
